Professor Hyun Ju Chong, PhD is professor & chair of Department of Music Therapy, Graduate School, Ewha Womans University. She is the chair of Korean Music Therapy Education Association (KOMTEA), editor of Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy and Music and Medicine.
Prof. Chong has studied music therapy at Western Illinois University (IL), masters in music therapy at Temple University (PA) and Ph.D at University of Kansas (KS) in United States.
Prof. Chong is a pioneer in Korean music therapy establishing one of the first accredited academic program of music therapy. She has been teaching at Ewha University since 2000 which now has over 100 graduate students in masters and doctoral programs.
Her work and research focus on music emotion and psychotherapeutic principles of music. She has written more than 8 books and published over 50 research papers at KCI and SSCI level journals on the therapeutic effects of music. She is internationally presenting about her work as spotlight presenter at representational music therapy organizations.
