The word “Concerto” originates from Italian (Italian is the most often used language in the western classical music terminology) and has the meaning of “performing together”, “combining forces”, and “entertaining the audience”. “Da” and “Camera” in Italian refers to the word “of” and “chamber” respectively in English. Concerto da Camera is a modern example of traditional European chamber music ensemble.
Concerto da Camera is a chamber music group formed by professional local musicians in Hong Kong. We aim to perform and promote classical music in various chamber music forms to our audience.
Since 2004, we have performed in various art performing venues and in 2008 we began our concert tours at local kindergartens and primary schools. We are also invited by local secondary schools to present chamber music workshops, in order for the students to understand the art of chamber music playing. Depending on the different programme of each performance, we may perform in any one of the following forms: recital, chamber ensemble or chamber orchestra. Concerto da Camera is a non-profit music organisation.
